MGK R. asked • 04/29/17 find the volume of the solid formed by revolving the region bounded by the graphs of y=x^3 y=1 x=2 about the y-axis Sep 17, 2016 · They learned so much from this one task about the shape and key features of a parabola, not to mention the valuable skills of working together as a team. This is a must-do for all Math II (or Algebra 1) classes! We spent a few days working on vocabulary, interval notation, and sketching parabolas given key features.

How can I "rotate" a parabola. I want to take an image and make it kind of wavy to distort it (like in a capcha form the letters are distorted sometimes with a wave) . So i figure that I could translate the pixels along a parabola. So the function where y=X[itex]^{2}[/itex] would make the image curve downwards.

These triangles can have an angle that is bigger than 90°. Another reason is that we want to be able to describe the angle of a spinning object as it rotates through many revolutions. An example is an aerial skier who jumps and does 2 revolutions in the air. They are “doing a 720”, meaning that they are rotating through 720°.
